Your Financials Dashboard is your financial command centre on Tutorwise. Track earnings, view transactions, analyse revenue trends, and understand where your money comes from.
Quick Access: Go to Financials Dashboard to see all your financial data in one place.
Role-Based Financial Data (New!): Your transactions are filtered based on your active role:
- Client role: See payments made to tutors + referral bonuses received
- Tutor role: See teaching earnings + referral commissions earned
- Agent role: See ALL transaction types (teaching, commissions, payments)

Understanding Your Earnings
Types of Income
Direct Teaching Income:
From completed bookings where you're the tutor:
- Hourly rate × session duration
- Platform fee deducted (10%)
- Net earnings added to balance
Example:
Session: 2 hours @ £50/hour = £100
Platform Fee (10%): -£10
Your Earnings: £90
Payment Timeline:
- Session completes → Payment processes (24hrs)
- Added to pending balance
- Clearing period (7 days)
- Moves to available balance
- Weekly payout → Bank account
Lifetime 10% Commission (Updated Feb 2026):
When users you referred complete sessions:
- 10% lifetime commission on ALL their future bookings
- Automatically tracked and calculated
- Shows referral source and conversion date
- Automated weekly payouts (£25 minimum)
Example:
Referred Tutor Earns: £90
Your Commission (10%): £9.00
Clearing Period: 7 days
Payout: Next Friday 10am UTC
Payout Flow:
- Session completes → Commission calculated
- 7-day clearing period (status: Pending)
- Commission available (status: Available)
- Weekly Friday batch payout → Bank account

Wiselist attribution tracking has been permanently removed:
- ❌ No attribution tracking for wiselist bookings
- ❌ No commissions from shared wiselists
- ❌ No conversion tracking
Wiselists remain available as organizational tools only.

Viewing Individual Transactions
Each transaction shows:
Transaction Information:
- Date and time
- Transaction type (Session, Referral, Refund)
- Amount (gross and net)
- Platform fee breakdown
- Payment status (Pending, Cleared, Paid Out)
Session Context:
- Client name
- Subject taught
- Session duration
- Listing used
- Location (online/in-person)
Filtering & Search:
- Date range picker
- Transaction type
- Payment status
- Client or service name

Tax Time: Use filters to export transactions for specific date ranges. Perfect for tax reporting and accounting!
Transaction Statuses
Pending:
- Session completed but in clearing period
- Usually 7 days for new tutors
- 3 days for established tutors (50+ sessions)
- Protection against chargebacks
Cleared:
- Clearing period passed
- Added to available balance
- Ready for next payout
- No longer reversible
Paid Out:
- Included in weekly payout
- Transferred to your bank
- Receipt available
- Shows payout batch ID
Refunded:
- Client requested refund (within policy)
- Amount reversed from earnings
- Shows original transaction link
- Explanation provided
- Yellow warning banner displayed
Disputed (New!):
- Payment disputed by payer (chargeback)
- Funds held pending investigation
- Red alert banner with prominent warning
- Link to Stripe Dashboard for evidence submission
- Shows dispute status and reason
- 7-14 day resolution period
Dispute Alert: If you see a red "Payment Disputed" banner on a transaction:
- Click "View in Stripe Dashboard" immediately
- Upload evidence (session recordings, messages, completion proof)
- Respond within 7 days for best chance of winning

Minimum Payout:
- £20 minimum for tutoring earnings
- £25 minimum for referral commissions
- Below threshold: Carries to next week automatically
- No maximum limit
Upcoming Earnings Projections (New!)
Track Future Earnings: Your Wallet Balance Widget now shows upcoming earnings automatically:
- Expandable View: Click "Upcoming Earnings" to see when clearing funds become available
- Grouped by Date: See exactly which dates your money will clear
- Amount Breakdown: Shows total amount clearing on each date
- 7-Day Timeline: Funds become available 7 days after session completion

This helps you:
- Plan cash flow
- Know when to expect payments

Pro Tip: Check "Upcoming Earnings" before making financial plans. You'll know exactly when each payment becomes available!
Payout Schedule (Automated System)
Weekly Automatic Payouts:
- Every Friday at 10:00 AM UTC (automated batch processor)
- Includes all cleared transactions (teaching earnings + referral commissions)
- Transferred via Stripe Connect to your bank
- Arrives in 2-5 business days
Minimum Thresholds:
- Tutoring earnings: £20 minimum for payout
- Referral commissions: £25 minimum for automated payout
- Below threshold: Carries to next week automatically
Tracking Payouts:
- Email notification when payout is processed
- Email notification if payout fails (update bank details)
- Reference ID for bank matching
- View all payouts in Financials dashboard
First Payout: May take 7-10 days for initial Stripe verification. Subsequent payouts are fully automated every Friday.
Withdrawals & Bank Details
Update Bank Account:
- Go to Account → Payment Settings
- Manage Stripe account
- Update bank details
- Verify new account (micro-deposits)
Manual Withdrawal (New!): You can now request withdrawals directly from the Financials page:
- Go to Financials
- Click "Request Withdrawal" button (top right)
- Review available balance and processing time (2-3 business days)
- Confirm withdrawal
- Funds transferred to your Stripe Connect account
- You'll receive email confirmation
Withdrawal Limitations:
- Only one withdrawal request can be active at a time
- Must wait 15 minutes between withdrawal requests
- Available balance only (clearing funds not eligible)
- Cannot withdraw if previous withdrawal is processing
Withdrawal History:
- View all past withdrawals in the new "Withdrawal History" section
- Track status: Processing, Completed, Failed, Disputed
- See estimated arrival dates
- Link to Stripe Dashboard for each payout
Flexible Options: You can request manual withdrawals at any time OR wait for the automated Friday payouts. Choose what works best for your cash flow!

Tax Information
Tax Responsibility: You're responsible for reporting earnings to HMRC. Tutorwise provides transaction data but not tax advice.
What to Report:
- All session earnings
- Referral commissions
- Any other income received
- Future: Wiselist commissions (when implemented)
What's Deducted:
- Platform fees (business expense)
- Stripe processing fees
- Bank transfer fees
Recommended:
- Keep detailed records
- Consult a tax professional
- Set aside 20-30% for tax
- Track business expenses
Troubleshooting
Q: Why is my balance different from what I expected? A: Check for:
- Platform fees (10% deducted)
- Pending transactions (not yet cleared)
- Recent refunds
- Previous payouts already sent
Q: When will my pending payment clear? A: New tutors: 7 days. Established tutors (50+ sessions): 3 days. Check transaction status for exact date.
Q: I didn't receive my Friday payout. Where is it? A: Check:
- Email for payout notification (sent when processed)
- Email for payout failed notification (if bank details issue)
- Stripe dashboard for transfer status
- Bank account (may take 2-5 business days to arrive)
- Minimum balance requirement (£20 teaching, £25 referral commissions)
Q: How do I dispute a refund? A: Email support@tutorwise.com with:
- Transaction ID
- Explanation of dispute
- Supporting evidence We review within 48 hours.
Q: Can I change my payout frequency? A: Not currently. Weekly Friday payouts are standard for all users.
Q: Why was a transaction reversed? A: Possible reasons:
- Client disputed charge
- Payment method failed
- Violation of terms
- Administrative error Check transaction notes for details.
Q: How do I request a manual withdrawal? A: Click "Request Withdrawal" on the Financials page. You can only withdraw your available balance (not clearing funds). One withdrawal can be processed at a time.
Q: Why can't I request another withdrawal? A: You may have:
- A withdrawal already processing (wait 15 minutes)
- No available balance (only cleared funds can be withdrawn)
- A previous withdrawal that failed (check email)
- Need to update bank details in Stripe
