Tutoring jobs for teachers. On your terms, at your rate.
You already know the specification, the exam boards and where students actually lose marks. Tutoring is the one place that expertise is priced by you rather than by a payscale. Set your own rate, teach the subjects you chose this career for, and work only the hours you want.
Free to join. You set your own rates, and there is no exclusivity.
Why teachers tutor
The ceiling is not your ability
Nothing here is news to you. It is simply the reason most teachers who tutor say they started.
A payscale someone else decided
Your pay is set by a national framework, not by how good you are. The only lever you have is time served — and that lever moves once a year.
The hours that are not teaching
Marking, data drops, learning walks, cover. The parts of the job you trained for are squeezed by the parts you did not.
Someone else picks your syllabus
You teach the set text you were given, at the pace the scheme of work dictates, to the group you were assigned.
What you control
Your rate, your subjects, your hours
Tutorwise is a place to list and be booked. It is not an employer and not an agency — it does not manage you.
You set the rate
You publish your own hourly rate. Not a band, not a scale, not what an agency decides your time is worth after its cut.
Teach what you are best at
Pick your subjects, levels and exam boards. If you want to teach only A-Level Chemistry, list only A-Level Chemistry.
Your hours, and no exclusivity
Set the hours you are available and change them whenever you like. Tutor elsewhere too — we do not ask for exclusivity, and we take nothing from students you already teach privately.
Being straight with you
What Tutorwise is — and is not — today
You will have been pitched by tutoring agencies before, so here is the honest version.
We are new
Tutorwise is a new platform. We are not going to tell you there is a queue of students waiting, because there is not one yet. Early tutors are here to shape the platform and to be the first profiles students find as it grows.
We take nothing from your existing students
The students you already tutor privately are yours. We do not want a cut of them, and we do not ask you to route them through us.
You will still need to be verified
Identity and DBS verification apply to every tutor, including qualified teachers. If you already hold a current DBS, this part is quick.
Getting started
Three steps, and no interview
1. Create your profile
Your subjects, your levels, your exam boards, and where you teach. A few minutes, and nobody is grading it.
2. Get verified
Identity and DBS. It is what turns a browsing parent into a booking, and as a teacher you are usually most of the way there already.
3. Set your rate and list
Publish what you teach, when you are free and what you charge. You can change any of it whenever you want.
Teach on your own terms
Free to join, you set your own rates, and you keep control of your time and your existing students.
